opportunity
The App Store went through Marketing and UX refresh in 2017, focused on enabling more discovery of all of the available apps. At this time, there wasn’t a strong social presence for the App Store.
solution
We focused on sharing meaningful content directly from the books and games.
To create the social content for the books, we read the featured books and concepted core imagery and animations that could summarize a theme in the book, as well as an author portraint, then created and shared this content directly.
For the games, we created weekly animations featuring characters from some of the top games in the App Store, and during the RED campaign we featured the game creators and developers.
impact
We built up the Twitter and Instagram channels for Apple Games, Music and Books, experimenting with custom content
to help customers discover new books and games, and also meet the authors and developers behind the books and games.
my role
As a Senior Visual Designer, I designed content for the social channels. For Apple Book Instagram posts, our design team read the books, proposed art direction for the Key Visuals and Author photo, and then worked with our team to create the content. Prior to working in the App Store, I worked on our campaigns design team, building out campaign landing pages for New Years, Earth Day, Supplier Responsibility, Back to School, the original Apple Watch launch, and more.
